Mega Millions Overview
On October 16, 2003 Texas became the 11th state to join Mega Millions along with Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Virginia and Washington.
The ticket sales began on December 3 and the first draw was held on December 5. At that time, Texas was the only state to offer the Megaplier option. Megaplier is a feature which allows participants to multiply their non-jackpot prizes by two, three or four times for an extra $1.
Since its launch, there have been more than a dozen Texan Mega Millions jackpot winners.
